"This tour gives you the opportunity to discover the ancient history and architecture of the medieval towns of Avignon, and Aix en Provence. It also reveals the delightful villages of the Luberon including Lourmarin, Coustellet,and Bonnieux. We also visit Les Baux and St Remy, these villages give you countless opportunities to visit the market stalls and boutiques in the area. Wine tasting will also be on offer and visits to the finest restaurants. There will also be plenty of atmosphere to sample throughout the day in Aix en Provence, when this renowned city of art and culture displays its many colourful market stalls and fountains. "

 
Day One (Monday)

You will be greeted at midday at Marseille airport by your Simply Provence representative, and taken on a scenic drive in a luxury minibus, to one of our finest 4 star hotels in the Avignon area. Time to settle in, where a welcome meeting with refreshments will be given, and details provided for your next seven days with us. There will also be a chance for you to ask any questions and a light hearted opportunity to practice your French skills ( if need be). Your time can then be spent exploring at leisure this ancient and beautiful city of Avignon, before we all get together to enjoy our first evening meal: Dinner will then be served.

 
Day Two (Tuesday)

Shortly after breakfast you will be taken on a tour of the city, taking in the sights of the Palais des Papes, `St Benezet bridge and the Petit Palais Museum to name but a few. Lunch will then be provided and taken at leisure in one of the typical French cafés. After lunch we will be departing on a scenic train ride which will take you through the Rocher des Doms gardens and admire the magnificent view of the Rhone, Avignon and it’s historical monuments. The rest of the afternoon will be left for you to relax and take in the ambiance of this historical city before preparing yourselves for an evening of culinary delights at restaurants that we can recommend.

 
Day Three (Wednesday)

After breakfast you will be picked up and taken to the picturesque village of St Remy, where you can take the opportunity of meandering through the colourful and vibrant busy market stalls of this old and typically Provencal village. Lunch will be taken at leisure before departing for our short ride to the citadel village that is Les-Baux–de-Provence, this unique perched village sits above the Alpilles countryside, with views across to the Camargue, the village area is a stone and cobblestone medieval village time-warped to the 20th century. The real glory of Les Baux is the site, viewed from the exterior, and the chateau-fortress area beyond the village. You will then be taken back to your hotel for free time before dining at leisure.

 
Day Four (Thursday)

Breakfast will be taken in the hotel before checking out and departing for the Lavender museum at Coustellet , an opportunity to purchase their fine lavender products. Onward then to the panoramic village of Bonnieux. Great photo opportunities here. Lunch will then be served before departing for our next hotel situated in one of the most picturesque villages in France which is Lourmarin. After checking in to your hotel you can browse at leisure at the numerous boutiques and galleries that this village has to offer. Time now to prepare yourself for your evening meal.

 
Day Five (Friday)

After breakfast a short stroll down to the bustling market that assembles every Friday morning in the heart of Lourmarin. A chance here to purchase those special holiday souvenirs. Lunch will be taken at one of the numerous cafes that adorn this village. The afternoon will be spent visiting the Chateau in Lourmarin and an opportunity to sample the local wine produce of this region in one of the many caves. Another day over but another evening to look forward to at one of the many restaurants that helps to make up this charming village.

 
Day 6 (Saturday)

After taking an early breakfast we will make our way on a short trip to Aix- en- provence, this former capital of Provence hosts one of the region’s most cosmopolitan streets of restaurants and bars, Rue de la Verrerie. Saturday morning is also the main market day in Aix, with an array of flowers, fruit and vegetables, antiques , clothes and bric–a brac, the city also hosts some of the most beautiful fountains and architecture in this part of France . Time to watch the world go by now while we take our lunch on one of the many busy terrace cafes. After lunch its time to take a trip into Lauris , this beautiful village sits atop a rocky ridge between the Durance and the petit Luberon mountain and was used as a back drop in the film ”A French Kiss” starring Meg Ryan. During our visit you will have chance to explore the village museum which will give you an insight to a working Provencal community of times gone bye. Time then to return to Lourmarin and look forward to our evening meal.

 
Day 7 (Sunday)

After breakfast you may want to make use of the hotels beautiful swimming pool, or if you are feeling slightly more energetic you could take in the pure clean air and discover the natural beauty that this region has to offer by visiting the Luberon, these are a range of mountains made up of the grand Luberon and the petit Luberon , which is divided by the combe of Lourmarin where the village is situated . Lunch can then be taken at the hotel. The afternoon will be spent participating in or viewing a French gourmet cooking class. Then it will be time to make the most of your last evening on the tour, we are sure that you will be spoilt for choice with the amount of restaurants that this village has to offer.

 

 
Day 8 (Monday)

Breakfast will be served in the hotel and then it will be time to depart and say our goodbyes as we head towards Marseille airport.
